 Geoffrey D. Creighton is Senior Vice-President, General Counsel and Secretary and Chief Compliance Officer for IGM Financial Inc. Geoff is responsible for overseeing the legal, compliance and corporate secretarial functions of Mackenzie, Investors Group and Investment Planning Counsel.
Prior to joining IGM in 2008, Geoff was a senior corporate partner with Torys LLP. His experience includes mergers and acquisitions, complex corporate finance and cross-border securities transactions, and litigation. Geoff has managed legal services for numerous large projects involving publicly listed companies in capital markets. In the area of governance, Geoff has drafted mandates and codes of conduct for boards and board committees, advised special committees and dealt with sensitive disclosure issues.
A graduate of the University of Western Ontario (B.A.) and the University of Toronto (LL.B), Geoff was called to the Bar in 1982.
In a voluntary capacity, he has chaired and served on several committees of the Canadian Bar Association and the Ontario Bar Association, and for twenty years was Ontario Editor of the Canadian Bar Review.
