 Charles Sims was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Mackenzie Financial Corporation in March 2005 and Co-President and Chief Executive Officer of IGM Financial Inc. in May 2005.
Mr. Sims started his career in 1984 in Toronto with Coopers and Lybrand. He joined the Toronto-based Canadian operations of Franklin Templeton Investments in 1989, and over the next eight years held a variety of leadership positions, including Chief Financial Officer and Head of Sales and Marketing. In 1997 he moved to the company's international head office in California, where he assumed the role of Vice-President, Finance of the parent company Franklin Resources, Inc., and then Chief Administrative Officer, Global Distribution from 2002 to 2005. In addition to finance, sales and marketing, he has extensive experience in operations, product development and strategy.
Mr. Sims has been very active in the Canadian fund industry. He was a member of the Board of Governors of the Investment Funds Institute of Canada (IFIC) from 1991 to 1997 and a member of its Board of Directors from 1993 to 1996. He also served on the Board of Directors of FundSERV Inc., the leading provider of electronic business services to the Canadian investment fund industry.
A graduate of the University of Western Ontario with a Bachelor of Arts degree, he is also a Chartered Accountant and a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Financial Executives Institute. |
